     Dive Medicine for Divers: Part 3

Dive Medicine for Divers: Part 3 represents advanced knowledge development for divers interested in better understanding diving medical and safety topics. Part 3 builds on the foundations from Parts 1 and 2, finishing the program with still more topics not normally addressed in basic dive training.

This final part of the Dive Medicine for Divers series includes topics on gas toxicities, the causes and mechanisms of drowning and the use of an otoscope for examining a diver's ears.

Program Outline

Participants may complete these modules in any order as schedules and opportunities permit. However, the following outline is the recommended program flow.
  • Gas toxicities (video)
  • Partial pressure calculations (instructor-led)
  • Drowning (video)
  • Causes of drowning for divers (instructor-led)
  • Issues of providing care: Good Samaritan laws (instructor-led)
  • Using an otoscope (video)
  • Learning to use an otoscope (instructor-led)
